From noise to know‑how, building a learning system that delivers

Client Context

A growing professional‑services organisation wanted a clearer, more consistent way to develop its people. Learning was happening informally, with no shared framework, no structure and no link to business strategy. They needed a modern, practical learning system that could grow with the organisation and support performance across teams.

The Challenge

The organisation had a strong culture but limited infrastructure for learning. People were at different levels of experience, workloads were high and there was no single view of what good development looked like. The challenge was to design a simple, usable learning ecosystem that supported everyday work, enabled specialists to develop content and could scale without becoming a burden.

Core Question

How do we build a learning framework that is structured enough to guide development, flexible enough to scale and simple enough that people actually use it?

Our Approach

We created a tiered framework covering foundation, intermediate and expert learning — a structure that made it easy for people to find the right level of support while giving the organisation a clear plan for long‑term development. The design aligned directly with business strategy and the culture the organisation wanted to build.

We kept the approach contemporary and accessible, using modern digital tools where helpful and focusing on short, engaging learning experiences. We enabled subject‑matter experts to create their own courses through simple templates and clear design principles. The framework also defined how an LMS should support self‑enrolment, communication, metrics and future scaling.

How We Worked

We worked collaboratively, keeping the process grounded in how the organisation actually operates. We mapped needs, clarified desired outcomes and co‑designed a framework that felt credible and practical. The design was deliberately lightweight — easy to pilot, refine and extend.

Contribution from the Client

The client brought ambition, clarity and a willingness to build something meaningful. They tested ideas quickly, offered thoughtful insight into their business and shaped the final design so it felt authentic to their organisation.

Key Findings

Simplicity drove engagement. A tiered structure helped the organisation invest effort where it mattered most. SMEs were able to produce strong content once given the right tools. Metrics — both short‑term engagement and longer‑term performance — were essential for understanding impact. Starting small and scaling iteratively was the most effective route.

Emerging Impact

The organisation now has a clear, practical and scalable learning framework, supported by the systems, templates and metrics needed to make it work. It provides a strong foundation for developing people, strengthening client delivery and embedding a learning culture across the business.
